PHILIP MUOKA

Managing Partner & Partner -in-charge Conveyancing & Commercial Law Dept. 

Our Managing Partner is a holder of a Masters Degree in law (LL.M) from the University of London (King’s College) where he specialized in Commercial and Corporate Law. He had earlier graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) in the year 2001 and was admitted to the bar in 2003.

Philip is the founding partner of Philip Muoka & Company Advocates. Before establishing the firm in 2011, he was the Head, Legal Department of Fidelity Commercial and its affiliated insurance brokerage company for a period of eight years. Philip has extensive experience with corporate & commercial law, property and conveyancing transactions, joint ventures, corporate reorganization/ restructuring and intellectual property law. Philip has overseen and supervised several legal due diligence exercises in major Financial Institutions in Kenya.

In year 2008, he was part of a lead team that conducted a successful private placement exercise to raise equity and led the legal team to successfully finalize the process. In 2010, Philip managed a rights issue exercise for a leading commercial bank conducting all legal diligence and handling the matter to conclusion.

In 2011, he was engaged by an international donor organization for legal opinion on intricate matters of the law and to date continues to represent the donor’s interests in Kenya.

At the Firm, Philip is the Managing Partner and doubles up as the Head, Conveyancing & Commercial Law Department.

DANIEL NJOROGE

Partner-in-charge, Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department. 

Daniel graduated with honours in law from the University of Nairobi in the year 2008. He was admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya in December 2011 and subsequently undertook pupillage at the firm of Kibatia & Company Advocates. Upon admission, he was retained as an associate in the firm’s Litigation Department handling land and insurance law cases. Be that as it may, Daniel also handled conveyancing and commercial briefs of the firm particularly those under the docket of the firm’s managing Partner.

In December 2012, he joined the firm of Macharia-Mwangi & Njeru Advocates as an associate in its Litigation Department where he honed his skills in litigation practice. He left the firm having risen to the post of senior associate. Daniel joined PHILIP MUOKA & COMPANY as a Partner in September 2015.

Daniel is an all-round legal practitioner. He is an astute and vibrant litigator whose main areas of practice are centered on commercial and banking litigation, civil, land and succession law as well as employment and labour disputes. He also has experience in insurance, criminal and media and sports law litigation. In that respect, Daniel’s practice is mainly before courts having the status of a High Court and Court of Appeal. Nonetheless, he also represents clients before the magistrates’ courts as well as before quasi-judicial and arbitral tribunals.

Daniel is also adept at conveyancing and commercial work particularly with regard to preparation, review and perfection of securities.

OLIVER KOSKEY

Partner, Litigation & Dispute Resolution Department 

Oliver is a graduate of the class of 2006 of Moi University with honours in law (LL.B). He was admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya in August 2010. Oliver undertook pupillage at the leading firm of Rustam Hira Advocates. Upon admission, he joined the firm of Alphonse Mutinda & Company Advocates an associate handling litigation, conveyancing and commercial briefs of the firm. He thereafter joined the firm of Ashford & Company Advocates as an associate in its Litigation Department. Oliver was then appointed to the post of Legal Officer at Fidelity Commercial Bank Limited where he played a vital role in the restructure of the department particularly in their securities and documentation work. He joined PHILIP MUOKA & COMPANY as a Partner in September 2014.

Oliver is a gifted litigator whose main areas of practice include commercial and banking litigation, insurance and land law. He has represented clients before the High Court, Court of Appeal, magistrates’ courts and before quasi-judicial and arbitral tribunals.
